I was thumbing through Tequila Mockingbird (if you missed the post about that book, check it out here). I wanted something summery and I think I hit the jackpot with this one. Not only is this drink cool, fruity and perfect for summer drinking, it’s also literary… named for Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare!
It just so happens that Julius Caesar and the last book I wrote about, Big Little Lies, have a little bit in common. Backstabbing and untrustworthy “friends” are definitely found in both of these stories!
This is how I made it….
3 oz OJ
1 oz milk
1 oz coconut vodka (but regular vodka or light rum would work)
1 tsp sugar
½ tsp vanilla extract
2 ice cubes
I blended it all together in my magic bullet and poured the frothy mixture into a pretty glass. Viola. If I had an orange, I would have added a slice to the glass for decoration! That would have made it even better.
Now grab a copy of Big Little Lies, make up a big glass of Orange Julius Caesar and settle in for some drama!
