Hibiscus Martini
When I realized I needed to post a floral inspired drink, this is right where my mind went. We served a version of this for Christmas a couple years ago and it was a big hit. However, I will warn you, it takes a little prep work.
Step 1 – make Hibiscus Tisane. This is essentially simple syrup with hibiscus flowers (aka hibiscus tea) steeped in it.
1 Cup Sugar, 2 Cup Water, ¼ Cup Hibiscus flower or 4-5 Hibiscus tea bags, a cinnamon stick
Combine in a small saucepan. Heat and stir to dissolve the sugar, let simmer gently for about 20 minutes or until reduced by half. Remove from heat and allow to sit and steep for 15 minutes. Remove the tea bags or strain, transfer to a bottle and refrigerate. Note: this syrup is very red and will stain. Be careful!
Step 2 – make the drink. In a shaker combine:
- 2 oz Coconut Vodka
- 1 oz lime fresh lime juice or if you want it sweeter, use Rose’s Sweetened Lime juice
- ½ cup Hibiscus Tisane
Shake with a few ice cubes and serve in a martini glass rimmed with sugar, garnish with a cinnamon stick. Sit back and enjoy….
