Skipping Christmas by John Grisham

I decided this cute little Christmas book would be a great way to get me into the holiday spirit. I was very curious about it, because I didn’t know John Grisham wrote this type of book.  Then, just a few pages in I was floored…this is Christmas with the Kranks! (You know, that movie with Tim Allen and Jamie Lee Curtis)

Am I the only person who didn’t know that movie was based off this little John Grisham book?!?!  

The premise: Since their daughter recently left to join the Peace Corp, Luther and Nora Krank decide to skip everything related to Christmas and instead, put their money toward a 10 day cruise, leaving Christmas day.  This one little decision causes a big uproar in their little town.  Everyone is upset about it, from the neighbors who all participate in a neighborhood decorating competition, to the firemen who run the annual fruitcake selling fundraiser.  Hilarity ensues, followed by a heartwarming ending. 

At about 175 pages, this sweet little book makes a great stocking stuffer!!!
