Winter Solstice by Rosamunde Pilcher
This was one of my favorite books of 2018, so I decided to re-read so I could refresh my memory and share it with you! The first time I read this in physical form, so I chose to listen to it in audio the second time. I must say, I really enjoyed the audio version too!
The premise: The stories of five lonely people converge. They find themselves spending the holiday season together in a quaint estate house in Scotland. The descriptions of the house felt cozy and simple. The characters were sweet and caring. I really wanted to crawl inside of the book to spend the holiday with them! (and that makes for the best book experience!!)
I found I had forgotten much of everyone’s back-story, so a lot of the book was like reading it for the first time. However, once the house came into the picture it all started coming back to me.
This is definitely not a plot driven book, but a character driven book. There is no big mystery, no strong plot line, just a bunch of people I wished I could meet and spend time with. I was so sad when the book ended, I really wanted to stay with them for awhile longer.
If only they would have let me stay until New Years….
