Summer Reading
With each season, I typically pick a list of 5 books that I will definitely be reading, no matter how many other wonderful books cross my path and get added to my reading list. Summer is a little different because Summer Reading is a big thing among a lot of avid readers. The idea of days spent at the beach/pool or relaxing in a nice shady spot with a good book is almost intoxicating. So, even though people tend to be pretty busy during the summer, it’s been my experience that we are better at allowing ourselves time to sit and read. Maybe because, if we are reading outside, it feels like we are “doing” something vs when we sit reading inside the house?
Whatever the reason, I have a great big stack of books that I have been gathering for summer reading. The pick attached is a portion of these books, I have added several since I took that photo!
Can I trim my list down to the 5 I’m most excited about? I will try:
Plainsong series by Kent Haruf (big cheat here as this is 3 books)
Lovely War by Julie Berry
Fried Green Tomatoes by Fannie Flagg
This Tender Land by William Kent Krueger
Redhead by the Side of the Road by Anne Tyler
Beach Read by Emily Wendy
I could easily add a few more, but I will stop here. For summer, my 5BIGR (books I’m gonna read) is really my 8+BIGR, and I am very excited about it.
There are just so many good books out there, what are you gonna read this summer? Let me know in comments!
I need to get my summer reading list going after reading this. Thanks for the inspiration!
