Cousin Collins (Cocktail)
It’s been awhile since I’ve shared a literary cocktail, so I purused my Gin Austen cocktail book and picked this one!
A cocktail based on Pride & Prejudice’s undesirable and pompous character, the Bennets’ cousin Collins. First looking to marry Jane, then Elizabeth, and finally settling on Elizabeth’s friend, he was annoying and somewhat unlikable, but the drink sounds delicious.
From Pg. 60:
- 1 ½ oz gin
- 1 oz limoncello
- ½ tsp simple syrup
- 1 oz lemon juice
- Club soda
- Lemon for garnish
“In a shaker filled with ice, pour the gin, limoncello, simple syrup, and lemon juice and shake well. Strain into a Collins glass filled with ice, and top with club soda. Garnish with a lemon wheel, and reconsider your options.” This book makes me chuckle!
