Anxious People by Fredrik Backman
I can already tell this is going to be one of my favorites for 2021!
Similar to A Man Called Ove, Backman tells a sad story with a bunch of laugh out loud humor. The characters are hysterical, yet believable.
The premise – a real-estate open house, a bank robbery gone wrong, suicide, divorce, financial devastation all combine into a surprisingly heartwarming and incredibly funny story of strangers connecting and coming together to overcome a really odd set of circumstances.
The story does contain many triggers, but the characters lighten the mood and literally had me laughing out loud.
I started the book in audio, but was afraid my lack of focus could cause me to miss important details, so I switched to the book. However, in the book, I missed the voices. So I ended up alternating between the 2, essentially reading the book twice, at the same time.
