Girl, Serpent, Thorn

Girl, Serpent, Thorn by Melissa Bashardoust

This is the second book I have read by Bashardoust. I think in all honesty, I enjoyed the first – Girls Made of Snow and Glass a bit more, but this one was very good as well. My only complaint is that in a few parts, it felt a little dragged out, but the story was compelling and enjoyable.

The Premise: A fairytale…A princess, Soraya, is cursed to be poisonous to the touch, while her twin brother lives a full life. Soraya lives in the shadows of the castle, hidden away because she is too dangerous to be out among people.

One of my favorite lines, I believe came from the book description…”sometimes, the princess is the monster.”

If you are in the mood for a fairytale, Girls Made of Snow and Glass is an interesting re-telling of Snow White, while Girl, Serpent, Thorn is a new creation (as far as I can tell).
