You know those books with a lot of plot? You suspensefully turn the pages to find out what is going to happen? Yeah, this isn’t one of those. This is definately a character driven book.
The Premise: Casey is 31 years old. Her mother recently died, she had a bad breakup, she is estranged from her father and her brother lives far away. She is an aspiring writer, spending the last 6 years writing her first book, while living in a room off a garage and waitressing as many hours as she can to make enough money to cover her rent and keep the creditors at bay. Oh and let’s throw in 2 love interests and some medical issues. Yeah, who needs a plot when the main character is this complicated?
I am in no way insulting this book when I say there is no plot. A book with strong characters doesn’t need a lot of plot because the interest comes from the characters themselves, not the suspensful storyline.
If you like a book about books and writing, this might be right up your alley. Or, if you just like a complicated character to make you feel better about your own life, pick it up!
