2022 – Reading Goals
In 2020 I set reading goals for the first time. I wanted to re-read more books, read more self-growth type books and read more series. I did pretty well in 2020 and kept the same goals into 2021. While I don’t plan anything drastic for 2022, I think it’s time to reevaluate.
I still want to re-read books. I love rereading something I know I previously loved. I have also found that sometimes re-reading something I originally rated a 3, will bump it up to a 4 or 5 because it allows me to notice things I may have missed during the first read.
I still want to read self-growth books. I love to learn and grow and I find these types of books very enjoyable.
I want to DNF more books. Yep you heard me correctly. There are too many great books out there to waste time on a book I’m not thoroughly enjoying. I can always revisit a dnf later if I want.
I want to read less books. Yep, you read that right. While I am very proud that I read 135 books in 2021, I think the focus on the number of books caused me to read too fast or read when I wasn’t really in the mood, just to cross another one off the list. I want to read less, but sink in and enjoy them more!
Do you set reading goals and what are they?
Wow 135 books read? That’s more than 2 a week! I agree with the DNF books. I got half way through a 500 page book and I knew the crime still was never solved and this book was just a rehashing of old evidence. I finally said after drudging through half of it “why am I even bothering to read the rest!”
