Mad Honey

Mad Honey by Jodi Picoult and Jennifer Finney Boylan

There are so many reasons why I loved this book. I loved that these 2 author worked together to create a novel without the slightest disjointed feeling. I love that this story has the power to open minds and educate in a way that feels authentic. I loved that it touched on many trials and tribulations of being human (love, death, violence, friendship and more).

The Premise: Olivia and her son, Ashton, are starting over. Olivia is a single mother, making a living as a bee keeper. Ashton meets and falls in love with Lily, the new girl at school. The relationship has only just begun when Lily ends up dead and Ashton is now on trial for her murder. This is very much a character driven novel with such deep character development, I know feel like I really know these characters, and I’m better for it.

The story is told from both Olivia’s and Lily’s points of view. In listening to the author’s notes, I learned that Picoult wrote the Olivia chapters (and one Lily chapter) and Boylan wrote the Lily chapters (and one Olivia chapter).

I highly recommend this one!!!
