Love and Other Disasters by Anita Kelly
This book puts the comedy in ‘Rom-Com’. I chucked out loud several times.
Recently divorced, with too many bills and a job that was not going well, Dahlia is struggling. What better way to make some quick cash than to enter into a reality cooking show? She heads to LA for weeks of filming (assuming she doesn’t get kicked off) and hilarity ensues, along with a romance (of course).
At first, she finds London rude. But as would be expected in a romance, eventually, sparks fly. The characters were believable with some that warm your heart and others you want to see fail (as is typical for a any reality competition, right?).
This is the first book I think I have read where one of the main characters is non-binary. I will admit that the pronouns threw me a bit at first, but by the end, it was natural and made perfect sense.
There were a couple of very open-door bedroom scenes, so if that’s not your thing, you might want to skip this one. But if you enjoy steamy scenes, these are well written.
If you pick this one up, please let me know in the comments what you think of it.
Happy Reading,
Tracy
